Cicli Rino Boschetti Story
Cicli Boschetti was founded in 1973 by Rino Boschetti in Marano sul Panaro (MO).
Before building his first bicycle in 1971 Mr. Boschetti was manufacturing wheels for Cicli Negrini, which at the time was one of the leading bicycle brands in Italy. As technology developed and automatisation took over, Boschetti could no longer compete with the decreasing prices for wheels and decided to build bikes.
One of the first Boschetti built bicycles Modello 1974
He quickly gained a reputation for building tailor made bicycles and soon semi-professional teams started competing on Boschetti’s bikes. In collaboration with master frame builders MAZA (Mattioli & Zanasi) he build some truly special bikes, such as the Francesco Moser like time trial machine. During this time Mr. Boschetti and his former friend and rival Luciano Paletti were the leading innovative frame builders in the region around Modena.

Due to his ever curious nature and continuous search for improvement Boschetti was able to gain the respect of the bicycle industry leaders. Selle San Marco at some point started to produce an elasticized saddle based on Boschetti’s idea to incorporate a horizontal spring as well as his patented antiprostatite saddle. He’s part of an exclusive group of frame builders that was entrusted by Columbus with their special Multi Shape tubing in the late 1980s. Fiera di Milano 1987 visitors admired for the first time a Boschetti Multi Shape and were literally in awe on what could be accomplished with Columbus' new developed MS Gilco Design tubing.
Apart from the high quality materials Boschetti bikes distinguish themselves with a particular paintwork as well. Most Boschetti bikes have been painted by Gianni Schivazappa from Parma who is considered as one of the finest of his craft.

Although he never made it to a cycling pro team (Paletti received the honour instead), Boschetti found considerable success in the triathlon world. Noteworthy collaborations include perennial Italian triathlon champion Fabrizio Ferraresi and Edith Cigana who both rode to numerous victories on Boschetti bikes.

Now in his late 70s Mr Rino Boschetti is still working on some projects in his little workshop in Marano at the foot of the Appenines.

Hello
I am a owner of a Boschetti Max Vision from the late 80. I am restoring the Bike, which was handmade to my body measures. Unfortunately, water went under the paint of the fork and destroyed the surface. I didn`t realise that, because I am more in the MTB World and the bike was not in use for the last couple of years. If the fork is not repairable; is there a chance to find a replacement?
Thank you for any help or proposals
Walter
Thank you so much for the article! I own a custom Boschetti road bike, but the seller didn’t know anithing about the frame. I couldn’t figure it out, who was this Boschetti, now I now it. And it feels so special to know it’s story and own a bike that he built. Also I really like to get more information about the frame and this article is good start to my research. I hope he will so many years!
